The internet is a great course of information and has opened up opportunities for people to learn all over the world.

Is all information reliable on the internet? What could be done to control information online?

Internet is surely a prime invention of the 21st century. It has provided information readily available to everyone, about any knowledge humans have ever known and understood. In due course academics have flourished, tendency to memorize have become unnecessary.

Many believe that the data over the internet is not completely reliable. It has become very common to see hoax news, wrong agendas, etc. have become very common. Destructive and negative hatred speeches as well as disturbing social media posts on racism, cunning political acts, motivation for terrorist activities, etc. have become reality with ugly influences and it is a shame that there is no one to control it. Data just propagates in form of chain reaction over the internet. Some hold social media as culprit for this cause others feel there is no board or legislation with a governing body. Although certain regions have it but it changes either between countries or states. Police or cyber crime prevention team have no fixed boundaries as such.

There can be many ways to control it. Though world wide web being an open source platform doesn't have direct control over the sites it can definitely help in formation of certain norms with United nations. It is need of an hour to formulate a governing team which would have hold in every nook and corner of the data flow. A separate department should be formed under central government of a country. This team should report directly to the president or prime minister of the country, further aligned with the United Nations. It should be the one checking the information, if the data is false or misguiding they should have direct rights to delete it right before it is available to the public. Many companies who run their businesses over the internet should have a committee with qualified professionals to keep a check on this. Some checks also need to be done for the dark net.

In conclusion a constructive alliance has to formed globally comprising of United nations, a cyber control team spread across every country and digital companies to control and validate the data before it is open to the masses. This can be achieved via a software sometimes needing a manual intervention.
